Home Sweet Home

One house painting ,recycled, and now finished.
Once I began working on this again, after its first incarnation, everything seemed to fit into place - not instantly but gradually as I worked through the various elements.
Although not with this one, but sometimes, when I finish something I've been working on I'm not sure how I feel about it.In fact, sometimes it can take weeks before the frustrations I felt when I was making the piece subside, leaving me better able to judge the end result. This used to bother me but I'm trying to accept this is how I am .It's not necessarily the end result that's the most important bit - not as important as keeping on painting ,sewing, glueing, colouring are to my sanity.
Gauging what someone else might make of my efforts is completely beyond my capabilities - I've never been able to predict what people will like.....so I was quite shocked (in a good way) by the response my 1" art square swap piece received .Every comment, here and over at flickr gave me such a buzz and I really want to thank every one who was so kind...you really know how to boost a girl's confidence...thank you!
A bit more about the house collage...
I decided on a pale grey /blue for the background ,which I painted with acrylics onto hardboard and then arranged the pieces until I was happy with them. It's partly painted- partly collaged .I'd begun with the idea of keeping it really simple and muted but couldn't resist adding a lot more colour...by the end I got a bit carried away and even added some metal leaf.
I do like the balance of the composition, which I wasn't happy with until it was almost finished. At the last minute I decided to change the colour of the right hand section making it a bold orange ,which SHOUTS for your attention, and hey presto, it was done.
The weather's been grey so photos don't show much detail. I'll need better one's before I add it to my Etsy shop at the weekend.Let's have some sunshine tomorrow please!
